Our Telecoms & Media Finance team operates successfully both in the UK, and internationally with over 60% of our total lending today to companies outside the UK. This geographical and cross-section spread of customers has given our team considerable sector knowledge.

Fixed and mobile telephony

Fixed and mobile telephony represent an essential part of all our daily lives. Both the fixed-line and mobile telephony offerings have evolved to include not only standard voice services, but also high-speed broadband internet, voice over IP (VoIP) technologies (e.g. Skype) and television. We have had a dedicated telecoms team for over 15 years, lending to all areas of this market.

Transmission infrastructure

The distribution of radio & television together with the growth in mobile telephony has driven demand for the infrastructure to support these services. We have been active in this sector since the first transactions took place, supporting the development of both regional and national players.

Cable television

The landscape of the cable sector has changed greatly over the last few years as operators have restructured, largely completed network build-out, consolidated (both domestically and internationally) and refinanced existing debt. Our Telecoms & Media Finance team has been involved at every stage.

Satellite broadcasting

Satellite remains an excellent medium for the transmission of multi-channel digital TV when seeking to cover a large geographical area. Broadband internet and data transmission have provided recent growth in the sector with further opportunities available through the development of high definition TV.

An exciting and evolving sector, our team is involved in providing funding to publishing houses, in particular newspapers, across Europe.

The directories space has witnessed considerable M&A activity in recent years, from which we have been particularly active, gaining considerable knowledge across such territories as France, Spain, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
